More culture & museum work

In short

  • What it is: a web and app redesign for The Met, focused on the ticket purchase journey. 2025.
  • The problem: before browsing the collections, most visitors want one answer. How do I buy tickets?
  • The approach: mobile-first and accessibility-led, with visual and hearing accessibility treated as requirements.
  • The outcome: tickets bought in four clicks, with unnecessary forms removed from the journey.
  • The role: product designer, solo, across website and app.

The challenge

Redesign the web experience for The Met to make it more accessible, intuitive, and easy to navigate. We identified a key need: before exploring the art collections, many users want to answer one fundamental question: How can I buy tickets?

How can we help users find the ticket purchase option at first glance? The challenge was to design a clear, fast, and accessible journey for visitors from around the world, regardless of their needs or devices.

The approach

We started with one premise: making the ticket purchase option visible was only the first step. We designed an accessibility-focused experience, prioritizing a mobile-first approach and incorporating considerations for users with visual impairments and hearing accessibility needs. Our goal was to make the experience intuitive, inclusive, and consistent across devices.

We simplified the purchasing process so users could buy their tickets in just four clicks, removing unnecessary forms and reducing friction throughout the journey. The result was a more direct and accessible purchasing experience, designed for one of the world’s most recognized museums.
